The End of an Era . . .

and beginning of a new one. The U.S. Open wrapped up today, with Lucas Glover winning the title. See previous post on my prediction on who would win this title.

It’s the end of the ‘Tiger Woods’ era (oh noes!!11!) because he currently holds none of the ‘major’ championship trophies. Don’t worry about Tiger, though. The British is at Turnberry, and if he doesn’t win that one, well, then you can start to worry. i fully believe Tiger will have more Grand Slam titles than Roger Federer (he doesn’t play golf, he plays tennis, so that one’s a no-brainer) and will finish his career with Nineteen Major Championships (even if he has to play til he’s fifty, the guys drive is phenomenol).
The “era” i’m talking about is excuse-free golf. Last Friday our company had an informal outing at Thanksgiving Point, about thirty people got together and played one of the best tracks in all of Utah.

i went as media representation. That’s a polite way of saying that they let me on the course to take pictures of the lucky bastards that did get to play. After catching up with the early tee times, and blasting through a hundred frames, i left the course knowing that from now on i would not have an excuse for playing as well as i ever could. That’s because i’ve never seen as well as i do now, and i’ve always fealt that i could correct my game if i could only see the trajectory of my ball.
i am so stoked to get out and play, and despite global warming stealing all of the spring (and likely the rest of my lifetime) i feel i can produce my all-time low scores this year, maybe next. i go to see the good doctor on Thursday, and regardless of what she may tell me i know my vision, and my life, has improved. Ergo, my golf games gotta improve, right? It’s the beginning of an era!
